Well, he did tell us he'd be back. We just hadn't realised he'd adopted the phrase as a life-long mantra.
With Terminator Genisys set to roll into cinemas on 2 July, you'd think Arnold Schwarzenegger would give himself a few months off to kick back with a protein shake and tinker with his Institute for State and Global Policy. But no. Word comes from Arnie fan site TheArnoldFans that the Austrian American is set to start filming the new Conan the Barbarian film, with a recently completed script, by the end of the year.
The Legend of Conan's producer and co-writer Chris Morgan told the fan site that the 62-year-old actor would don his furry loin cloth as soon as he had finished commitments for Genisys.
"Our tone is a logical extension of the character established in the ’82 film… but 30 years later," said Morgan of the new title Legend. "When we meet him again, Conan has been many things over the course of his life - a thief, a warrior, a pirate, a king, a legend - and is now an older man. Think Unforgiven… with a sword-wielding barbarian."
The new film is set to dial up the brutality of the franchise, returning it to the brutal scenes of John Milius' original of 1982. In addition to Schwarzenegger returning to his sword-wielding roots, three other yet-to-be-named actors are set to revive their roles, in a film described by its producers as "brutal... primal..." and "politically incorrect".
We're still keeping our fingers crossed that Universal continues the Arnie revival and puts together the Twins sequel the world deserves.
