Acclaimed director Alejandro González Iñárritu is not someone you'd typically associate with laughter. Unless you were the one sicko guffawing all the way through 21 Grams.
But this brutal edge might end up being a major strength for the director's new film, the dark comedy Birdman. Iñárritu, who was also behind Amores Perros and Babel, has just unveiled the first trailer and it's a fantastic watch.
The star-studded new film follows Michael Keaton who plays an actor who is trying to shift his career from playing a superhero to being a respected Broadway star. It looks like a killer role for Keaton and he's supported by Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan and Zach Galifianakis.
We're mightily impressed by the trailer and now rather uncontrollably excited about the film itself. Oh and excellent use of Gnarls Barkley's Crazy.
Take a watch.
Birdman hits cinemas January 2nd, 2015
