The Shining sequel, Doctor Sleep, finally emerged last year, but it seems that Hollywood is still focused on getting its prequel made.
And rumours are circling that the movie, The Overlook Hotel, will be directed by none other than the Oscar-winning Alfonso Cuarón. The Gravity director is believed to be the frontrunner to take on the task of following (or preceding, depending how you look at it) Stanley Kubrick in the hotseat, with the job his if he wants it. The film will apparently examine the origins of the iconic hotel featured in the 1977 Stephen King classic.
The last news on The Overlook Hotel was late last year with Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead) pencilled to write the script, with Laeta Kalogridis and Bradley Fischer (Shutter Island/Zodiac) down to produce. It's unclear whether they are still involved or not.
