Aaron Paul reportedly cast in The Dark Tower

Breaking Bad star to join Idris Elba & Matthew McConaughey?

Aaron Paul reportedly cast in The Dark Tower
08 March 2016

From being dead in the water not so long ago, The Dark Tower movie is now looking to be potentially incredible with the news of its latest rumoured casting.

Hot on the heels of the confirmation of Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in the two lead roles of Roland Deschain and Randall Flagg comes reports that Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul has been cast in the movie.

Blastr writes that "reliable sources close to the production" have said that Paul has been cast, albeit with no confirmation of what character he would be playing.

The actor previously stated back in 2012 that it would be a "dream" to play Eddie Dean in any potential film:

Paul later revealed that he had been to meetings about the project, and spoke with the then-producer Ron Howard, who was a fan of Breaking Bad. It seems that new director Nikolaj Arcel may well be a fan too.

It would make a huge amount of sense for Paul to play this role - the character is a 23-year-old heroin addict from New York City, who teams up with Deschain in the second book, The Drawing of the Three. This would tie in with previous reports that the film will not be a straight adaptation of the first book of the eight in the series but rather take in material from elsewhere, with "a lot" of it being set in the modern world.

Two A-list lead characters and potentially a young, confirmed fan, cult actor in a cult role - what's not to be excited about?
