If you're one of those people who fail to function without plenty of caffeine running through their veins, then there’s never been a better time to sign up for one of the best coffee subscription services in the UK right now.

We like to think of ourselves experts when it comes to coffee. We have been testing the fantastic drink for most of our adult lives and have been lucky enough to test a number of fantastic coffee subscription services.

Sure, you may think that a coffee subscription service is a club reserved for the hardcore coffee drinkers out there, but it’s also a great way to discover new and exciting flavours that aren’t always stocked on the shelves of your local supermarket.

Most coffee subscription services also offer a range of grind sizes, meaning you can choose your bean and then have it ground to fit all manner of coffee machines, cafetieres and filters. Plus, it’s as close as you can get to visiting your local coffee shop right about now.

Below you’ll find all of these offers (and more), so get browsing to discover the best coffee subscription to fuel your caffeine needs.

Best coffee subscriptions

The sheer amount of choice is the first thing that hits you with Dog And Hat. It's a coffee subscription service that really knows its beans and caters for whatever your tasted. Subscription boxes start with two coffees, while there are six box options to choose from - including Assorted, Filter, Espresso and international versions of these. Our box came with two stunning coffees: Dear Green and Sip Me Baby One More Time and a nice slab of chocolate!

2. Rise Coffee Box

Buy from Rise now

Rise is adding the fun to coffee box subscriptions, offering two brilliant bags of coffee as well as a recipe or treat to get the most out of your coffee. We tried the August box and it came with two bags of Origin coffee (Resolute for espresso, San Fermin for filter), as well as a recipe card to make an espresso martini and some Mr Black liqueur. The packaging is great and there was no mess opening up the coffee bags, which are easy to reseal. the coffee was tasty: there is a real fruitiness to the San Fermin blend (with hints of orange) and a dark richness to the Resolute coffee grounds.

Box options are myriad: you can opt for a monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly or even a weekly subscription. You can get a one-off box, too, which is a touch more expensive (currently £18.99). They aren't hiding the cancellation process, either, you just need to head to the accounts page.

This is the newest coffee delivery service we have tested and there is a lot to love about Batch Coffee. The key here is that they only roast in small batches, so you know what you are getting is super fresh. You can choose which grind you like and the beans are all ethically sourced.

The company already supply coffee to the likes of Boxpark and Department Of Coffee And Social Affairs, so you know you are in good hands here. The batch of Batch we tested was delicious, opting for the whole beans and grinding them at home. The box they come in is ultra-cool, too, something you don't mind not hiding in a cupboard. Also, when you spend over £25 delivery is free.

It's interesting that Rave reckons its packaging isn't the sexiest around as we loved the look of the subscription that came through to us. We tried both the signature blend and the Christmas blend and both tasted amazing. There is a real no-fuss attitude to this service which we like and there is a big push for sustainability which we also like. As for the price - from £7.95 a month, it's one of the cheapest tested.

5. Caravan Coffee Roasters

Buy now from Caravan Coffee Roasters

If you are London based, hopefully you have been lucky enough to have tried one of Caravan's myriad cafes around the city. The Exmouth Market branch is our go-to but you can also get their fantastic coffee straight to your door. Each coffee is available as a one-off purchase or through their subscription service. We tried the new Daily, Market Blend and Decaf coffee pods in our tests and were really impressed. Market Blend has richness, thanks to its chocolatey notes, but there's an apple-like sweetness in there, too. The Daily Blend hits you with a touch more spice, while the decaf may not give you a caffeine hit but you do get notes of spicy apple crumble. The pods fit a Nespresso machine and are compostable. If you are after coffee beans or ground coffee, these are available too.

Subscription-wise, you get free delivery, exclusive coffee releases and the occasional freebie. You get the choice of weekly, bi-weekly and monthly mail outs and you can choose between 200g or 1kg packages (depending on how much coffee you drink). All of this from £8, which is a decent price.

When you subscribe to Tambia Coffee, you will be safe in the knowledge that they know the provenance of the beans - because they actually grow them! There is a lot on the site about the community of coffee growers they have and the initiatives they do to make sure that the farmers not only deliver the best product but are well catered for as well.

Taste wise, we tried the Dark Chocolate and Summer Berries beans on a medium roast, from La Sierra Farm. The citrus and chocolate notes really blended well and there was a balanced there to counteract any bitterness. You can buy subscriptions of the coffee, single purchases and there is a gift subscription offering, too.

7. Blue Coffee Box

Buy now from Blue Coffee Box

Blue Coffee Box is the newest entry in our best coffee subscriptions list and we were utterly impressed when we taste tested. The beans (if you order beans, you can also order different types of grind) are all ethically sourced and hand roasted in the UK. You can choose the strength of the coffee and how often you want a bag (or bags) sent to you. The coffee we sampled was rich and a touch fruity, with details of its provenance on the bag, and offered a smoother taste than some of the other coffees we've tasted. Blue Coffee Box is a company where it feels like its owners really care about both the coffee they are delivering and the people who make it.
