London Zoo is hiding giant eggs across the park this Easter

If you’re staring down the Easter holidays, wondering how to fill the days, this might be one of the easier wins in London right now. London Zoo is bringing back its Zoonormous Egg Hunt for 2026, and it’s less a quick activity, more a full day out in disguise.

Running through to the middle of April, the idea is simple; families are sent out across the zoo to track down six giant Easter eggs hidden around the grounds. Each one reveals a letter, and once you’ve found them all, you’ll be able to crack a code that ties the whole thing together. It’s the kind of thing that slows kids down in a good way, giving them something to focus on that isn’t just sprinting from enclosure to enclosure.

While the egg hunt is the headline, you’re still getting everything else that comes with a day at the zoo, which means this ends up feeling like a much bigger experience than your standard “five minutes and it’s over” Easter activity.

Once the trail’s done, there’s a small payoff waiting on the main lawn, plus a few extras that lean into the zoo’s 200th anniversary celebrations.

There’s a heritage exhibition running alongside it, and a more hands-on arts and crafts setup where kids can make their own Easter bunny crowns. It’s all fairly low-pressure, but it pads things out nicely if you’re trying to stretch a day beyond a few hours.

The main sell, though, is how easy it is. The whole thing's included with standard zoo entry (starting from £31.80 for an adult and £22.20), which means you’re not juggling extra bookings or planning something separate on top of a day out. You just turn up, get stuck in, and let it do its thing.

It’s not groundbreaking, but it doesn’t need to be. If it keeps kids engaged, gets them outdoors, and buys you a bit of breathing room, that’s kind of the job done.
