Weird Science remake on the way

The 1980s is the gift that keeps on giving for Hollywood. It's a decade full of films that can be remade, playing on our collective nostalgia and making us angry, stumping up our money in the process.

The latest film being brought back to life is the 1985 sci-fi comedy Weird Science, from the great mind of John Hughes. The film followed two high schoolers who use their computer to create a perfect woman to make the bullies jealous. The woman, Kelly LeBrock, became one of the decade's most pinned up pin-ups. It also featured an early performance from Robert Downey Jr.

The new version will be made by original producer Joel Silver's company Silver Productions and boast a script from Michael Bacall, known for penning another 80s reinvention 21 Jump Street.

They're promising an edgier, probably R-rated, spin on the original film, which means more swearing and probably more nudity.

Bonus points if you can also remember the 1994 TV show baed around the same plot. Extra points if you made it through more than one episode.
