You've doubtless heard the rumours: in search of an even thinner iPhone, Apple will ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack - forcing users to buy headphones that plug into its Lightning slot, connect via Bluetooth or via a presumably costly adaptor.
While we hold our collective breath that these are nothing more than internet hearsay, another 3.5-fear-monger has begun ringing its bell.
Twitter user Chase Fromm, who lists their interests as iOS jailbreaking, claims to have spotted coding (the bit that reads "Headphones.have.%sinput.NO") in the new iOS 9.3 software that points to future generations of the iPhone ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack in favour of something more svelte.
Don't discard your hopes just yet though, as it's not the clearest of indicators: the iPhone 7, expected to be revealed in September, wouldn't ship with iOS 9.3 (the software can be updated as much as once a month).
The code spotted by Chase Fromm might refer to a function in the iOS that helps the iPhone determine if it's connected to a wireless speaker or headphones, changing its audio output accordingly.
