The world's most expensive cocktail

Yes this might sound a bit familiar to the eagle-eyed ShortList.com readers out there but, honestly, we're not repeating ourselves.

In October, the world's most expensive cocktail cropped up in London and cost a steep £5,500 ($8,824) per glass. Seemed like a lot at the time, huh?

Well, with today's news, it seems like an absolute bargain.

The new record-holder comes all the way from Melbourne and will set you back a whopping $12,500 ($12,916 or £8,167). The cocktail is called Winston, as in Churchill, and contains Grand Marnier Quintessence, Chartreuse Vieillissement Exceptionnellement Prolonge (a herbal liqueur), and a dash of Angostura Bitters. But the reason the price tag is so steep? Two nips of 1858 Croizet cognac, a bottle of which costs £99,000 ($157,000).

It's also presented with chocolate nutmeg dust, poppy seed essence, rose essence and hints of cocount, orange and passionflower. It's being served in Club 23 bar in Melbourne and takes two days to make.

No free car though.
