You scanned the newspaper front pages today, didn’t you? You saw the historic headlines, emanating from the highest corridors of power and sending shockwaves around the country.
No, not the fact former Prime Minister David Cameron is stepping down from UK politics, but news that the Great British Bake Off is to move from the BBC to Channel 4. A scandal in the eyes of many.
Clearly, it’s the most popular TV show around at the moment, and there were few better places to gauge opinion than Twitter. So without further ado, here were the funniest reactions on social media.
Let’s kick off with the obvious one, shall we?
I know a lot of the team at Channel 4 and I'm hearing David Cameron as the new host of 'Bake Off'.— Richard Osman (@richardosman) September 12, 2016
Bake off on c4 is like when your mum and dad break up. You still get to see him but it's in a flat above a dominos with garden furniture.— David Meade (@DavidMeadeLive) September 13, 2016
Here we see Bake Off cast about to be approached by C4 bearing frankincense, myrrh and, principally, gold. pic.twitter.com/vH4WZDfgwL— David Baddiel (@Baddiel) September 12, 2016

I would 100% watch Davina presenting Ch4 Bake Off, just running around, interviewing people, introducing needless chaos, yelling— Chris Mandle (@chris_mandle) September 12, 2016
In a few years the UK will be out of the EU and the Great British Bake Off will be on ITV. The country as we know it is dead.— Jamie Ross (@JamieRoss7) September 12, 2016

#GBBO moving to Ch4 is going to kill my waistline. It was only the lack of advert breaks that stopped me sticking my head in the cake tin!— Jayne Sharp (@Jaynesharp) September 13, 2016
It great news for bakers who run out of time on #GBBO, as they'll now be able to use Channel 4+1.— Richard Osman (@richardosman) September 12, 2016
