New York restaurant offering $350 steak

If we ever found ourselves on death row, forced to decide on a last meal before the chair gets fired up, we'd be emotional, obviously, but also a bit excited as we'd insist on a damn fine steak for our main.

But as you're aware, there's a whole cow's worth of cuts to choose from.

Thanks to The Old Homestead Steakhouse, that decision has just been made a whole lot easier. The New York eaterie has just launched a steak that will set you back $350 (£215).

It's a 12-oz beast made from luxurious Kobe beef, cut from Wagyu cattle. Apparently there's already a waiting list of steak fans flying in to try it and some are even offering extra, just to reserve one.

"It's like having the Fourth of July in your mouth," co-owner Marc Sherry claims. "It’s a food experience of orgasmic proportions - really."

Importing Wagyu meat has been suspended in the US for the past two years, thanks to foot-and-mouth, but with the ban now lifted, The Old Homestead Steakhouse is making the most of it.

Wagyu cows are fed on a diet including soybeans, rice, and beer and receive regular hand massages, meaning they have 30% more fat and 70% more happiness than other cows.

Would you give the steak a try?
