The original adaptation of Carrie became one of the defining horror films of the 70s so when we heard that a remake was on the cards, eyebrows were raised.

But they're temporarily lowering with this first look at the two leads. Chloe Grace Moretz, best known for swearing her head off in Kick-Ass, is taking the titular role as the troubled girl with terrifying powers while Julianne Moore is starring as her religious fanatic mother.

Moretz, who leaked the images via Instagram, has already likened the remake to Black Swan.

You can see Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie in the same roles underneath.

What do you think? Good casting?

We can all find out for ourselves when it hits cinemas on April 13th 2013.
