With Robert Pattinson being one of the most current faces for high couture brand Dior Homme, it may come as a surprise to learn that Boy George is now modelling in their latest campaign, a bit of a stark contrast to the youthful, skeletal cheekbone wearing vigor of the Twilight star. But from these new images, it’s clear that he hasn’t lost any of that rebellious new romantic cool from the Eighties as he wears stylish bondage-esque straps and his signature hat adorned with punk Toru Kamei souvenir pins.
Creative Director Kris Van Assche recently explained the left field choice in an interview with WWD: “It’s about music, it’s about cinema, it’s about fashion… It’s about a certain memory I have of the Eighties that remains very much relevant for 2017.
“Boy George, when I was a kid, was one of the first to have this message about difference being OK; he was such a major influence on my generation. That idea of freedom and being a rebel – which he still is – is really something that has stayed with me."
Shot in a simple yet classic black and white in Paris by Willy Vanderperre, these images also star new face Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) wearing a laced bomber and perforated blazer, and regular Dior Homme advocate and hip hop star A$AP Rocky who wears a patched denim jacket.
