Remember parkour? That dangerous craze of running over rooftops that lasted all of a few months in the mid-2000s before we realised it was much more fun (and safe) doing it on video games from the comfort of our sofas? Free running, that's the one.
Well, now it's got zombies.
From the creators of the superbly grizzly Dead Island comes an altogether more agile zombie outing. Dying Light takes place in a quarantined slum, providing players with a seemingly endless maze of rooftops and drain pipes to scurry around in hopes of avoiding armed troops and hungry hordes. Assuming the role of Kyle Crane, an undercover operative sent to infiltrate the quarantine zone, it's not a straightforward story of alive vs dead, as the slum's citizens and occupying forces turn on each other in the fight for survival.
Armed with an arsenal of sharp pointy things, the launch trailer for Dying Light shows off the sort of high-flying splatter games you can pull off. Bring a towel.
Dying Light is out now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC

At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
