Sh*t just got real in the chilling new Westworld trailer

The latest trailer for the Michael Crichton adaptation promises one heck of a ride

Sh*t just got real in the chilling new Westworld trailer
15 September 2016

“You’re one of them aren’t you?”

Why, you’d have to be a sophisticatedly crafted android not to be chilled to the bone by the latest trailer for Westworld, otherwise known as your next big TV fix.

Based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 cult sci-fi of the same name and brought to us by J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan, the HBO thriller takes viewers smack bang into the theme park of the future run by artificial intelligence, where tourists can blithely live out their fantasies as gunslingers of the old west.

Bar brawls, prostitutes, six-shooter showdowns – you name the cliché and these androids can provide it, catering to every desire of their fleshy guests. Trouble is, these machines are so authentic that they start to wonder if they’re real themselves…

Not least Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores Abernathy, who in the latest trailer can be seen questioning her own state of mind. It probably doesn't help that she's given a talking to from Dr Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins), the tech visionary whose project eventually turns into a nightmarish reality.

By the looks of this unreal trailer, maybe we should start pinching ourselves too.
