With the excitement for this year's London-based Olympics about to reach fever pitch, anyone who's over the age of 100 will remember a different kind of excitement for the first time the capital hosted the event back in 1908.

For one, there were probably less local cafés promising Olympic-sized breakfasts for extortionate prices. Secondly, the fashion was rather different.
