Germany: Great beer, incredible efficiency. Alas, footage from a political party meeting, last week, shows the two don't always go hand in hand.
The video shows a waiter dropping five beers down German Chancellor Angela Merkel's back.
The unnamed waiter said he could not stop himself swearing as the glasses slipped.
“A colleague should have brought her the beer. But she was so nervous, she asked me to do it for her,” the 21-year-old told Bild newspaper.
He described the moment as if it had happened in slow motion. “I was shoved from behind, and tried to catch the beers, but it was too late. I shouted “Sh*t!” really loudly,” he said.
“She turned around, grinned at me – and even though she was wet, went to the speaker’s stage shortly afterwards”.
Brilliantly calm reaction from the German number one. Better than when George W Bush gave her a massage.
