A Florida pilot managed a lucky escape after a bird flew into his plane's windscreen at 170mph.
The impact shattered the pilot-side window, spraying shards of glass onto Robert Weber, an experienced pilot of eleven years. However, he retained his composure at 1000 feet and managed to land the plane safely at the nearest airport, Page Field, which was ten miles away when impact occurred.
"The windscreen just exploded. First thing that came to mind was the first thing I was told when I started flying, and that was 'just fly the f***ing plane', said Field.
It is unknown how the bird is, but at the very least it lost a good few feathers.
Watch the video below for the full experience - the collision happens at around 0:18.
