“When I was playing Street Fighter II on the Snes with my mates in east London 14 years ago, I never thought that I’d end up as a top-selling artist, or owning a record label with Jay-Z. I justwanted to beat Sagat.
“I was obsessed with music, football and computer games. The best character in Street Fighter II was Ryu — some of his moves were crazy to watch. After school I ended up doing a BA in moving image and animation, so I can appreciate the art that went into the game.
“Sometimes I play modern titles like Def Jam Rapstar, but even when I sing my own song, I don’t get full marks. That’s where it’s got to now. A Snes is probably only worth £20 now, but to me it will always be a classic.”
