Back in 2013, a space suited Sandra Bullock and George Clooney introduced many of us to a new terrifying fear.
No, not IMAX cinema prices. Such was the majestic realism of Gravity's near-space antics that it spawned many sleepless nights, nightmaring what it might be like to drift freely through the blackness of the void.
Now, thanks to one of the latest operations of Elon Musk's SpaceX, we have an even more realistic touchstone for our visions of space terror. During a successful launch of a Falcon 9 rocket, SpaceX strapped an intrepid little GoPro inside one of the rocket's detachable fairings. As the hunk of metalwork started its descent back to Earth, the camera captured some incredible footage of our blue home.
Now, before we allow this gorgeous footage to change our minds entirely, we'd better point out that the clip ends before the fiery re-entry sequence.
Yes, space is beautiful. But good grief is it terrifying.
