The best red wine in the world has been revealed and it costs less than a fiver
10 June 2016

Big news people: they’ve gone and found the best wine in the WORLD.

Like, don’t even bother swishing it about in your mouth and spitting it into an ash tray or whatever it is they do on Saturday Kitchen Live. Waste of time, that – because this is it. Experts have said so.

And what’s more, it only costs £4.37 a bottle.

Asda’s budget bottle of La Moneda Reserva Malbec from Chile beat thousands of other wines to take home ‘best in show’ at this year’s Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA).

After a blind taste test of around 16,000 reds and whites from across the world (what a night that must have been), a panel of 240 international experts judged the Malbec to be the ‘ultimate crowd pleaser’.

With a taste of ‘freshly crushed black fruit, creamy vanilla yoghurt and pepper spice’ (which sounds more like a smoothie to us, but whatever), the wine won for its ‘succulent juicy berries on the palate.’

Asda wine buying manager Ed Betts told Metro.co.uk: ‘The La Moneda Reserva Malbec is currently on rollback at £4.37 (it usually retails at £5.75), and as the perfect match to barbecued meats, we’re expecting high demand in the coming weeks!’

That’s one more BBQ tip to put on the list, then.
