The water slide with a trap door

When it comes to waterpark daredevil thrills and spills, bigger, faster and scarier rides will always come up trumps.

And so it is with the new Jumeirah Sceirah water slide that opened at the Wild Wadi Waterpark in Dubai today. As the video makes abundantly clear, this isn’t a ride for those more used to the roundabout at the local park.

The ride is 32 metres high and the tandem slides come in at an impressive 120 metres, which riders will woosh down at a sprightly 80 kilometres an hour.

However, the cherry on top of this manic feat of adrenaline engineering is the capsule into which riders must step into before their descent. Rather than being able to see the slide below, riders are released into the unknown by a trap door.

A big hat nod to whoever came up with that little beauty. We like.
