It's all 'smartwatch this' and 'smartwatch that' these days, but give us a classic Casio any day of the week.

Which is why we love this incredible wearable steampunk wristwatch created by Brooklyn-based freelance electrical engineer John De Cristofaro. The ChronodeVFD has been hand-built using a transparent Soviet-surplus IVL2-7/5 VFD display tube, meaning that you can see the circuit board in action behind it.

The other brilliant thing about its design is that it runs using AA batteries, which look great, but sadly only last between 6-10 hours. So if you're planning to wear this regularly, you'll need to invest in a serious Duracell stockpile.
