Who? Frightened Rabbit
What’s the story? Hopes must be high that Frightened Rabbit can 'do a Snow Patrol' on their upcoming fifth album, Painting of a Panic Attack, due for release on 8 April. They've done the work - releasing three critically-acclaimed albums on legendary indie label Fat Cat - before signing a major label deal with Atlantic and keeping the standard up on Pedestrian Verse, their last record; all the while touring heavily and picking up fans.
Get Out is a strident statement of intent and, while it might look like a lazy comparison, it shares sonic elements with the doom rock of their countrymen The Twilight Sad and even Biffy Clyro's more tender moments, especially with the unexpected jump up a gear when the chorus kicks in, and the rhythmic drum figure that accompanies it. It's a great track, but, as ever, it'll come down to whether the general public fall in love with singer Scott Hutchinson's voice, like they did with Gary Lightbody. This song will give them a great chance of getting onto radio playlists everywhere, and then the big question is, do they have a Run to follow it up? We'll soon find out.
For fans of: The Twilight Sad, Snow Patrol, Biffy Clyro
In three words: Big-hearted emotional indie
