Who? EKKOES
What’s the story? On the week that the Pet Shop Boys release their excellent thirteenth record, Super, there's another chance to be reminded of their enduring influence on the world of electronic music with this new track from London trio EKKOES. Heaven, the followup to last month's You Just Walked Away is, as the name suggests, a heavenly slice of synthpop, which borrows the Pets' sense of moodiness in the verses. However, there are other influences in there too, with Johnny Marr-esque guitar work present and correct, and euphoric choruses calling to mind Years & Years' megahits Desire and King. Stick this on and await the coming summer sun with anticipation.
For fans of: Years & Years, The Smiths, Pet Shop Boys
In three words: Euphoric synthpop goodness

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
