Who? Dream Wife
What’s the story? This song ticks every single box you could want from a lo-fi indie release. It features an Icelandic/British trio, the video was filmed at Central Saint Martins, it contains retro VHS effects, there's prominent knitwear and - naturally - it'll be released on limited edition 12" (as well as digitally). Musicwise, it's a gloriously carefree piece of pop-tinged indie, with Rakel Mjöll's vocals lifting the track via some breathy backing vocals and and an almost Morrissey-esque lead vocal delivery. Hang on, Morrissey? We've really completed the indie box ticking now haven't we? Embrace it guys, embrace it.
For fans of: Los Campesinos, The Smiths
In three words: Lo-fi indie pop
