Who? A K Paul
What’s the story? If only we had more to go on. The starved saga began in 2011 when Jai Paul - brother of Anup (A K) Paul - released the impossibly slick single BTSTU, full of bedroom samples and synth mixes. Skip forward a year and Jai treated the world to the more laid back Jasmine, before proceeding to drop off the face of the earth. There followed some production credits, a leaked unfinished album and then the emergence of the 'other Paul brother', with A K releasing the triumphant So Good with singer Nao in 2014. Fast forward through more collaborations (but no solo work from either brother), when Jai Paul resurfaced to announce the formation of the cryptic Paul Institute. This track, LANDCRUSIN', is the project's first release from A K Paul; a blockbuster soundscape of overdrive riffs and A K's Prince-flavoured lyrical tones. Hire a convertible, grab some sunglasses and turn it up.
