Two forces of unrelenting controversy dipped in mahogany combined last night when Nigel Farage took to the stage for a Donald Trump presidential rally in Mississippi.
A stealthy bid to restore the US to the British Empire? Perhaps, though on the surface level, the chief Brexiteer was on-message, telling the feverish supporters that if he were American he'd never vote for Hillary Clinton, even if the democrat nominee paid him herself - a quote taken right out of Trump's 'Crooked Hillary' playbook.
Not that he was the only one with a quip: as the bizarre scene played out, Twitter users started posting gags to make some sense of it all. Because you have to laugh in situations like these, right?
