We've got some good puns loaded into the chamber for this one. Grin and bear them, if you can.
But first, the serious bit: this Asiatic black bear, aka moon bear, lives in a rescue centre. He was saved from a "bile farm" in China where he was kept in very cramped conditions (like these).
The bear was only fed a small amount of food; just enough to keep him alive so that his bile could be extracted. (The bile is used by some Chinese doctors to treat ailments including piles.)
Because he doesn't weigh as much as he should, his spine is able to support his malnourished body.

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
