Anyone planning a holiday to Mestia this year? Anyone? Anyone?
Well that's the problem facing the Georgian tourist board who've come up with an ingenious way to attract visitors to their snowy townlet.
They hired Berlin-based practice J. MAYER H. Architects to design them an airport terminal that would get people talking and they've well and truly succeeded. If by people they mean us, of course. Constructed in just three months the building resembles a futuristic space station.
For those of you now planning on a visit, Mestia offers a renowned ski-resort and apparently "lots of interesting mineral water."
The creation of the new terminal is just the first stage in an overall strategy to get people over there. By the end of the year there'll also be a pub that offers free beer and Scampi Fries for every patron. Okay so that's a lie.
