With a firm grip on the basketball shoe market and Space Jam neatly etched into his CV, Michael Jordan has done his damndest to make us all forget the time he embarked upon a baseball career only to strike out.
Feel free to Google it, he really did, but in the meantime please cast your gaze in the direction of his brand’s latest footwear marvel: the Air Jordan 1 Retro ’99 Last Shot, referencing the buzzer-beating heroics witnessed by many euphoric crowds, and based on the classic shoe first unleashed upon the world in 1999.
Retro indeed –mostly black leather save for a shrewd splattering of blood red the Air-sole heel - the giant 23 (his shirt number) and leaping insignia above reminding us a bit of the opening credits of The Amazing Spiderman if we’re honest - makes this one of his best creations so far.
It's a strong look, and it’ll be available to buy on September 10.
