The book cover, along with the old 12" record album sleeve, is one of the great canvasses of modern art. But what would the classic designers of yesteryear have done if they'd been able to make the thing move?
Well, we can see just that, with the aid of gifs, and the supreme talents of Chilean artist Javier Jensen.
He's created this fantastic series, depicting 'gifified' versions of six classic titles, including The Great Gatsby and Moby Dick. “I wanted to go back to the books that made us live, dream and believe in different things and reflect what I always imagined when I looked at their covers" he told the Guardian.
Appropriately, the moving parts are beautifully subtle, adding a lovely extra layer to the classic originals. We like them a lot - take a look below and check out Javier's work at his Behance page.
