We had always been charmed by the clash of Futurama's sci-fi-filled landscapes with its hand-drawn, black-outlined cartoon style. That was until we saw it rendered in 3D computerised splendour. We're not sure we can ever go back.
This amazing piece of 3D fan art is the work of Moscow-based Alexey Zakharov. A passion project rather than the reveal of a specially commissioned 3D film (we were disappointed too), Zakharov has animated a 30 second short of Futurama's bustling world, starring the show's Planet Express ship.
The talented Russian has also created a series of gorgeous works that see the Express in various deep-space scenarios. Tantalisingly titled "Part One" on his Behance page, here's hoping future instalments are enough to grab the attention of Matt Groening and co.
