Banksy et al get V&A approval

Street Art

Over-officious local authorities may send teams to whitewash walls within moments of new street art appearing, but for the majority it’s viewed as a modern phenomenon to be applauded. Even David Cameron’s on board — his first official gift to President Obama was a painting by London street artist Eine.

There’s more Eine on display in a new book, Street Art: Contemporary Prints, which also contains work by Banksy, Jamie Hewlett and D*Face. As well as a standard edition, it also comes in a limited collector’s edition available exclusively at the V&A Shop and Black Rat Projects.

And if the V&A endorses anything as art, you can be sure it’s worth it.

Street Art: Contemporary Prints is published on 28 February. Prints contained in the book will be exhibited at Black Rat Projects (April 14-29) www.blackratprojects.com
