It was brave new start for Channel 4 - hosting the World Athletics Championships for the first time - and it required a solid, charismatic and surefire anchor to see them home.
It didn't go to plan. Ortis Deley, a presenter with experience presenting children's TV shows, and Channel 5's The Gadget Show, was handed his debut in sports, and it went about as well as Jonathan Woodgate's at Real Madrid.
He frequently had to refer to notes, appeared incapable of pronouncing the names of his own commentators, and even got an introduction for the most famous man in athletics, Usain Bolt, wrong. In fairness, we feel a tad sorry for the guy.
Channel 4 decided to hand Deley to a 'scaled back' role and passed the baton on to T4's Rick Edwards. Watch poor Ortis in the clip below...
