Sopranos creator David Chase has hinted that there could be a prequel to the hugely successful TV series.
As Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan readies his own prequel, in the shape of Better Call Saul, Chase revealed his thoughts at a panel discussion last night in New York.
When asked about being approached for a Sopranos movie, he said "A lot of people have talked to me about it, and frankly I still flirt with the idea sometimes. But if I had a really great way to do it, I would do maybe a prequel. Somebody gave me a book about Newark in the 1920s about gangsters in Newark. That kind of interests me but not enough that I would have done it."
The fact that he's still thinking about it should give all fans hope: obviously the death of James Gandolfini would rule out for a return for Tony but, as Better Call Saul will, hopefully, demonstrate, his character would not necessarily be needed.
