Someone made a fully functional car vending machine

Car salesmen could be out of a job very soon

Someone made a fully functional car vending machine

The latest profession threatening to be swallowed by our grand automated future? Car salesmen. So no real harm done.

American online car retailer Carvana has unveiled its alternative vision of future automotive provision: a car vending machine.

The vast five-storey "vender" is stationed in Nashville, with the capacity to hold up to 20 cars at a time. First, the customer selects their preferred vehicle online. Then they head to the vending site, input their details into a kiosk and retrieve their very own oversized coin. By slotting this into the vending machine, their selected vehicle will roll through to the delivery bay.

Sure, it's a PR stunt - but an inventive one that could hint at a future where we don't own cars, but hire electric, automated rides from similar "vending" machines.

We can't imagine the sort of kick you'd have to give it if your chosen model gets stuck half way down.
