Brace yourselves. The Game of Thrones promotions are coming.
With the fifth season set to consume Monday evenings from 13 April, HBO has begun ratcheting up its Westeros-themed antics: in addition to a pop-up restaurant in London, Rolling Stone magazine has word that a second mixtape is in the works.
Following on the muted success of Catch the Throne - an 10 track mixtape of hip hop artists including the likes of Big Boi and Dee Goodz that was released ahead of season four - HBO is looking to bring a more eclectic range of artists to Catch the Throne, Vol. 2.
Acts set to record their own Thrones-inspired tracks include Method Man, thrash metal group Anthrax, metalcore outfit Killswitch Engaged and outspoken Game of Thrones fan, Snoop Doog.
"Off the top, I love Game of Thrones," said Snoop in an HBO statement. "I even gave my expert analysis of this season on my GGN show. It's like the rap game, it's gangster, about family, loyalty and trying to get to the top. I had to get involved. Give the fans a little bit of how I see it."
Set to be released in March in build up to the fifth season, 15 tracks will appear on Vol. 2, each themed around the feuding families warring for the Iron Throne. You can hear the first mixtape here.
