Does your DVD collection read like a doomsday book? The entire Terminator collection sitting snugly beside the likes of The Matrix and Robocop? Do you find yourself unplugging your electronics at night "just in case"?
Then allow the following compilation of robotic failures to ease your fears concerning the inevitable robot uprising.
This assorted group of flailing, failing droids was captured during the opening day of the DARPA Robotics Challenge Finals - an event that saw engineering teams from around the world put their robotic creations through a series of rigorous tests for a $2 million (£1.3m) top prize. Teams had to design a robot capable of carrying out tasks that appear easy to a human, but that require hugely complex feats of engineer for a droid - from climbing stairs and walking through sand to opening doors.

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
