Redesigned World Cup Posters

Birthdays are once a year. Christmas, once a year. Same for all anniversaries, New Year's Eve and that beer festival at the local. Having to wait four years for your favourite sporting event is thus quite a strain on the average man.

It would appear that the waiting is getting to New York-based artist James Taylor - with superb consequences. He's been whittling away the final weeks of build up by redesigning every official World Cup poster issued between Uruguay 1930 and Brazil 2014.

"Every World Cup has its own particular feel," explains Taylor, "which I've tried to suggest with each design, while obviously evoking the period graphically... and hopefully improving on some of the originals!"

If you're struggling to contain yourself ahead of the tournament's kick off (12 June, 21:00), best take a scroll through these nice and slow. Head to Taylor's Behance site to see more of his work.

Content Director

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
