Yup, you read that right. Netflix, the humble streaming site that fills your nights, weekends and every other bit of downtime with a constant stream of the latest, greatest films, TV shows and comedy has gone and upped its prices.
And what’s worse is that you probably didn’t even notice it happen. Initially the price hike will only be aimed at new users, but will be rolled out across all existing customers by May 2016.

New users will have to pay £7.49 a month for the standard package, which allows access to HD content, with the top end premium package costing £8.99.
The good news is that if you subscribed to the original price of £5.99 per month the price increase will be frozen, at least for now.
The last time Netflix upped its fees was in 2014, increasing its standard package of £5.99 by £1.
