For those still digesting news that Ben Affleck is set to appear as Bruce Wayne on the big screen, there should be no qualms over who is to play him on the small screen.
Set in a world before Batman Begins, Gotham, a prequel to the comic series starring Ben McKenzie (last seen earning his gritty police officer chops on Southland) as fresh faced detective Jim Gordon, also sets the scene for the origins story of miniature Bruce Wayne, played by 13-year-old David Mazouz.
As you can see from the surprisingly impressive trailer below, Wayne’s familiar back alley orphaning as his parents are slain is set to play a key part, as we see Gordon on the scene consoling the boy and swearing to bring the perpetrator to justice, while other key characters teased to have their own origin stories include The Penguin, The Riddler and Poison Ivy.
We don’t know about you, but we’re sure glad we didn’t attend that high school…
Gotham will be aired later this year
