No, you didn't miss a deeper point to Mega Man - his battles with the Robot Masters and Dr Wily didn't hold a hidden meaning concerning your existence and existential reality. At least, we're pretty sure it didn't.
Rather, the chaps at Wisecrack have used the blue-suited robotic hero to tap into the depths of some of Nietzsche's more complicated thoughts in the latest episode of their 8-bit Philosophy series.
Delving into the meaning of expressions such as "Time is a flat circle" - recently popularised by HBO's tremendous True Detective - Mega Man et al help demonstrate the applications of Nietzsche's thinking through a series of narrated battles.
Now we think about it, replaying the levels in order to relive the experiences of a structured game, maybe Mega Man does have some link to philosophy after all... We'll let you watch the video and decide for yourself.

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
