None more so, however, than an American chap named Woody. The native of Oshkosh, Wisconsin has now put some of these forgotten relics to use once more by building them into the designs of some alternative light fixtures.
Everything from the aptly named NES light gun to early PlayStation era controllers and back to the Sega Genesis's Justifier light gun, have been taken by Woody and refurnished for a series of appliances sure to add a refined layer of geek to any home.
Even yours - you can buy the lamps from as little as £47 from Woody's site, while another must-ogle is the Nintendo History Evolution Totem Sculpture Floor Lamp, strewn with gaming nostalgia and worth a whopping £262.
Who knows, maybe 30 years from now he'll be using Oculus Rift as a fruit bowl.
