Duff Beer. Three-eyed fish. Shifty looking dog - clearly, the world of The Simpsons is about as far removed from the period grandeur of Downton Abbey as you could expect.
Not that this has deterred Matt Groening from paying tribute to the incredibly successful British export, as, following on from an episode last year which had its opening credits replaced with ‘Simpton Abbey’, now the disturbingly violent duo of Itchy & Scratchy have got in on the action.
Entitled ‘Downton Tabby’, and scored to the real show's theme tune, we see luckless feline Scratchy playing the servants of the household, while psychopathic mouse Itchy playing the ruling class - leading, somewhat inevitably, to blood-stained high tea and disemboweling in the most British of manners.
Needless to say, it's wonderful.
