Incredible wooden maps go beneath the surface

Wallpaper is stupid. There, we said it. If we had our way, it would all be replaced by intricate maps and life would automatically become a lot more interesting.

Admittedly, our concentration levels for anything other than staring at maps would be pitiful but we'd take a great deal of pleasure in regular bouts of wild escapism.

In other words, yeah we like maps a lot.

This new set of wooden maps, complete with under the surface detail, has just skyrocketed to the top of our list of favourites. Exposing the traditionally undervalued features that lie underwater, they're unique 3D pieces handcrafted from Baltic birch.

If you're in the market for a new centrepiece for your map room (you have a map room, right?) then prices start at $128 (£79) at Below The Boat.
