Jump. Jump. Run. Jump. Hit the block. Fall down the hole. No matter how good we thought we were at Super Mario Bros., our attempts at a 'speed run' always fell woefully short of record-breaking.
Our efforts have been made to look even more spectacularly futile thanks to a Mario speedrunner by the name of Blubbler. His latest world record sees him complete the entire game in a staggering four minutes and 57.69 seconds. We can't even get dressed that quickly.
Beating the previous record of 4:58.09, Blubbler executes some spectacular skills in his run - from jumping on pipes even when a Piranha Plant is threateningly close, to avoiding any end of level fireworks (they only appeared if you finished a level with a time ending in 1, 3 or 6).
Watch the record being set below and prepare to hail a new champion.
