There's only one reason we're excited about Christmas this year, and it's got nothing to do with sausagemeat stuffing.
The BBC has been teasing us for the better part of a year with snippets, hints and sniffs of their Victorian Sherlock special - a tradition they're looking to maintain for the foreseeable future.
With autumn wrapping its cold tendrils around September, the Beeb has launched a soul-warming autumn/winter showcase reel, packed with the best programming the network has to offer. It begins with the pipped Cumberbatch himself, in previously unseen Sherlock footage.
And... well that's it. There's some new Luther stuff in there, some David Attenborough looking frighteningly old and other televisual gold that'll hopefully make the impending gloom more bearable. You can watch it in full here.
Bring on the winter.

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
