In the money-printing world of blockbuster gaming, four years is a long time to wait for a sequel. Fans of 2008 title Race Driver: Grid have even taken to the streets (well, their keyboards) demanding a follow-up. Thankfully, Grid 2 is finally on the horizon
And, as ShortList witnessed during a world exclusive preview, it’s back in style. The graphics have received an overhaul, with Michael Mann’s Collateral providing inspiration – and there are many other clever touches. Cars scrape paint on walls, crowds grow as you improve and discarded newspapers flutter at the windscreen.
There are powerful new vehicles too, from entry-level (Mustang Mach 1) to ridiculous (the 230mph Pagani Huayra). And with the return of Flashback mode (allowing you to rewind the action to seconds before a crash), it was difficult to prise the controller from our hands. The wait is nearly over…
