Goalscorer Gets Water & Power Turned Off As Punishment

Normally when you score a goal, you expect some praise, a bit of adoration - that sort of thing.

Unfortunately for Tajikistani footballer Ahtam Hamroqulov, his goalscoring exploits against his local team led to some extremely petty revenge.

Hamroqulov was a regular for Vakhsh, the official club of Qurgonteppa, before leaving to play for a neighbouring village's team two years ago. When he scored twice against Vakhsh in a recent match, he returned home to be greeted by representatives of the city mayor's office, who claimed he hadn't paid his utility bills, and promptly cut off his electricity and water supply.

The player claimed that "I always pay my utility bills, 100%, and I keep the receipts. So, I told them to take their bills and leave."

They did leave, but not before cutting him off, and stealing his meters. His services have since been returned, but only after complaining in person to the head of the Tajik Football Federation, who addressed the situation.

Good job he didn't score a hat-trick - they'd have burnt his house down.
